Bio
Fracargio is a Sicilian music ensemble founded in 2017. Their musical exploration blends traditional and modern instruments, striking a balance between composition and improvisation.
In 2018, they released their debut album Agni Parthene, followed by the singles Fa focu amuri and Morti duci (2021), and the album Il silenzio di Dio (2025). Using the Sicilian language as an expressive hallmark is a central part of their artistic journey. This bond comes to life in live performances such as Cuntimi…, Odiamuri, and E Natali ci annunziò, successfully staged and well received by audiences.
They curated an entire concert season at the Piccolo Teatro Petrolini in Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto. From that experience, the creative podcast Sentieri Sonori was born — a project exploring the dialogue between music, storytelling, and sound imagery, evolving naturally from their artistic research.
Fracargio has composed original music for several listening journeys and artistic projects in collaboration with actor William Caruso. Among these:
- 5.20 (2022), inspired by the 1908 Messina earthquake,
- In Nativitate Domini (2022), dedicated to the depiction of Christmas in sacred art,
- Mysterium – Dentro la croce (2023), a musical journey through the Passion artworks of the Regional Museum of Messina,
- Come candele al vento (2024), telling the story of a man facing his past during Christmas 1906.
Selected live performances:
- Cuntimi – Associazione Bellini (Messina, 2018)
- Odiamuri – Associazione Bellini (Messina, 2019)
- La mano dell’Informe – University of Messina, Aula Magna, for the centenary of poet Bartolo Cattafi’s birth (2023)
- E Natali ci annunziò – Associazione Filarmonica (Messina, 2023)
- Fotogrammi – live soundtrack for silent films, Piccolo Teatro Petrolini (Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, 2024)
- 10 metri – Associazione Orchestra da Camera di Messina (2025)
Through their work, Fracargio continues to explore the potential of sound as a sensory and cultural experience, merging tradition and innovation into a unique and recognizable language.
